Some information is so easy to believe, but it is completely built upon lies. What happens when a persona becomes larger than folklore? Who is this man that is scattered across headlines? This project focuses on Florida Man: the singular, bumbling, good-intentioned man residing in Florida, who seems to run into trouble at every turn.
The overall goal of the project was to convey information in a tangible way for kids to engage. The multiple pages of the paper doll sheets introduce vignettes of information that create deeper insight to his existence. The data relies heavily on iconography to resonate with kids, but also cleverly creates more accessories for Florida Man. Presented as a complete play set or pack, this might easily be found at a roadside attraction or service plaza to introduce visitors to the elusive Florida Man.
Playing into all the tropes and vernacular, Florida Man can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Presented alongside statistic information to support the crazy concept the is Florida Man, each infographic reinforces the plausibility of the narrative. Hidden details, intended to both surprise and delight adults and kids alike, feature Florida Man sightings as well as statistics to support how many different newspaper headlines he makes.
